Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! 5/10

Breasts. Huge breasts. And cars. Fast cars driven by women with huge breasts. End of review.

No, seriously... actually, how can I be serious when reviewing a film titled "Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!"? You can't, and nobody should try. I don't know the history of Russ Meyer except that he made softcore porn and really liked big tits, but I assume this was a serious attempt at a thriller in the only style he was familiar with, in which case I'd have to say he failed miserably, because I was laughing all the way through. But if he intended to make a satirical film with empowered women which at the same time indulge us in our very basic desires to watch hot girls wrestle each other in dirt... well I still can't say he did an amazing job but I sure was very entertained.

So here's the story, or what I could gather. Three go go girls are speeding around the desert in their sports cars, having a crazily wild time, when they encounter a typical all-American young couple all giddy and smiles. The go go girls are amused. But being the crazy wild girls that they are, after 5 minutes with them the boyfriend somehow finds himself killed by the go go girls' self appointed leader Varla (the unbelievably sexy Tura Satana) and the girls have to cover up what they've done, including dealing with the hysterical and goddamn annoying girlfriend (Susan Bernard). While figuring out what to do, they discover that a family in the area are loaded but are a little too dysfunctional to do anything useful with their money. So the girls decide they're going to use their... err... wits to steal the money. But then everything goes horribly wrong. But not without some nutty fight sequences, make outs in the barn, sexually suggestive one liners and lots of breast-age.

There are high doses of melodrama and overacting, really badly written dialogue and a totally implausible plot. But let's face it, that's why it's incredibly fun to watch. It may also be because the three go go girls are fucking hot. There's Varla, the sassy, cunning and unusually strong lass with a body that even had the heterosexual girls in the audience fanning themselves, Rosie (Haji) the sterotypical hispanic right hand woman who seemed a little too interested in Varla (but who can blame her?), and there's Billie (Lori Williams), the flirty one with a little bit of a conscience, though perhaps not a lot of... balls. There was one very fine himbo in there too (Dennis Busch), affectionately referred as "The vegetable". Sexual exploitation? Probably, but everyone seemed to be enjoying it too much to care.

What can I say about the craft? Well, it seems clear that they had a small budget. But I suppose that adds indie charm to this already strange work. Kudos to their almost obsessive attention to make up and costume. The girls' attractiveness was really the only thing that made everything work.

So although it's not one of those must see classics like Citizen Kane, it's a fun film that still feels twice as clever as the films out today. And oh my god, those breasts! You seriously will not be able to get them out of your mind.

Only 5 out of 10??!!
This is a landmark exploitation flick, and easily the best movie Russ Meyer ever made, with Beyond the Valley of the Dolls a close second.
It's the Breast Action Movie ever!
